Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join Ludus as a Graphic Designer

You will create original visual work that brings Ludus products, campaigns, and ideas to life.

Ludus builds software for the performing arts. Thousands of theatres, schools, dance studios, music programs, independent venues, and other performing arts organizations use Ludus to sell tickets, market events, raise money, and manage volunteers.

Ludus is looking for a Graphic Designer to join our creative team. We need someone with strong design skills who can take an idea from concept through finished work, whether that’s the visual direction for a new product, a digital campaign, an ad, or a conference piece.

You will work alongside another Graphic Designer and collaborate with Video, Content, Product Marketing, and the broader Marketing team. You will work within an established Ludus brand while having real room to bring new ideas, new visual approaches, and your own creative strengths to where we go next.

Join us in our mission to bring people together through shared experiences by building digital tools for performing arts organizations.

Things you should know before applying

At Ludus, our mission is to bring people together through shared experiences.

We get shit done, move fast, and are constantly learning and adapting. We embrace low process and high trust to navigate change and figure out what works.

We don't think success is permanent. The moment you stop learning and improving, someone else catches up. For us, success is a sum of small efforts, including trial and error, so we move at an unrelenting weekly pace.

In order to grow as a company and individually, discomfort is necessary so we can continue exploring new ideas and push ourselves to build quality tools to offer the best solutions for our customers.

If you prefer a hand-holding environment where everything is black and white, that's not us. If you move without being pushed and can thrive in controlled chaos, Ludus is the place for you.

You will create visuals that thousands of performing arts organizations see every day, working alongside our creative team with real ownership over the work you ship.

What you'll be doing Product & Campaign Design
  • Develop visual concepts for new products, launches, and marketing campaigns.
  • Carry those concepts across web, social, advertising, email, and sales materials.
  • Turn software features and product interfaces into clear, compelling marketing visuals.
Brand & Graphic Design
  • Create original graphics, illustrations, dimensional product visuals, layouts, typography, and other visual elements.
  • Work across a visual style that mixes illustration, product/UI elements, typography, photography when appropriate, and campaign-specific creative concepts.
  • Build on the Ludus brand while bringing new ideas and visual directions to the work.
  • Design for social, digital ads, web, e-guides, and other marketing needs.
Print & Events
  • Create conference signage, banners, flyers, mailers, and other print materials.
  • Adapt concepts across different sizes and formats without losing the original idea.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with Design, Video, Content, Product Marketing, and other teams to turn ideas into finished creative work.
  • Bring visual concepts to the table, present your thinking, take feedback, and keep pushing until the work is right.
Traits we’re looking for

(In no certain order)

Strong Designer
  • Strong command of typography, composition, color, layout, and visual storytelling.
  • Can create original work rather than relying primarily on templates, stock imagery, or existing assets.
Conceptual Thinker
  • Can start with a goal or rough idea and come back with visual concepts of your own.
  • Understands how to give different products and campaigns distinct visual personalities while keeping them recognizably Ludus.
Turns Ideas Into Finished Work
  • Enjoys both coming up with the idea and doing the hands-on work to finish it.
  • Comfortable moving between product graphics, campaigns, social, web, print, and event materials.
Experience
  • Five or more years of professional graphic design experience.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional graphic design, original concept development, illustration or original asset creation, and the ability to carry an idea across multiple formats.
  • Proficient with Adobe Illustrator and comfortable with Figma.
  • Experience creating marketing graphics for software, technology, or digital products preferred.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Motion graphics, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Jitter experience.
  • Illustration or information-design experience.
  • Experience developing campaign or product visual identities.
  • Familiarity with performing arts organizations or the audiences Ludus serves.
Personal Attributes
  • Brings ideas and a creative point of view.
  • Comfortable receiving direct feedback and trying another direction when needed.
  • Curious about what we're communicating, not simply what it should look like.
  • Takes ownership of the finished work.
