Cranbrook Schools is seeking a passionate, committed, and growth‑minded Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach to support and help build a competitive and values‑driven program within a premier independent school setting.

The position is well‑suited for former field hockey players who are ready to take the next step into coaching and contribute to a program with high expectations, strong support, and significant potential for growth.

The ideal candidate will:

• Bring coaching experience in field hockey or demonstrate the ability to translate playing experience into effective teaching.
• Former field hockey playing experience (high school, club, or collegiate) strongly preferred.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach fundamentals, build relationships, and create a positive, accountable team culture.
• Be eager to learn, grow, and contribute within a collaborative coaching staff.
• Be committed to developing student‑athletes of character, emphasizing effort, discipline, and a team‑first mentality.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in planning and leading practices focused on skill development and team concepts.
• Support game preparation, scouting, and in‑game coaching.
• Help foster a competitive and inclusive team culture aligned with school values.
• Communicate effectively with players, families, and the coaching staff.
• Contribute to the long‑term growth and sustainability of the program.

• Demonstrated ability to develop players and contribute to building competitive, high‑character teams.
• Meaningful connections within the club field hockey community highly desirable.
• A clear commitment to advancing the mission and values of Cranbrook Schools.
