Job Description
We are seeking a motivated individual that is passionate about early education to join our school as a Preschool Assistant Teacher. In this position, you assist the primary classroom teacher with activities and learning exercises and help them maintain a friendly, inclusive atmosphere for all students. Depending on needs and class sizes, you may take small groups of students aside for separate activities.
Educational Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. A Preschool CDA credential or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Must attend training classes designed to broaden professionalism, education and skill involving child care and development as required by Federal and State regulations and Administration.
Preschool Assistant Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with teaching team in all activities.
- Help keep learning areas tidy and safe.
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students.
- Support children with special or individual needs.
- Share responsibility in the preparation of Daily Plans and the preparation of teaching materials.
- Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members.
Preschool Assistant Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess personal attributes needed to develop trusting relationships with children and adults. Such attributes include the following:
- Experience working with young children in a licensed educational environment.
- A passion for early childhood education and helping children grow in positive ways.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interactions expressive of genuine warmth and concern for children as well as an understanding of their developmental needs.
- Respect for children’s ideas, feelings, abilities and differences.
- Ability to assume needed duties and responsibilities without supervision.
- Ability to use discretion in communications with parents in the teacher ‘s absence.
- Ability to move and react quickly and to handle emergencies effectively.
- Ability to abide by all rules and regulations applicable to workers of the center.
- Ability to accept changes in schedules, environment, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
Schedule:
Monday to Friday
