Job Summary / Basic Function

Under administrative direction of the Director of Library and Academic Services, this position will lead initiatives to develop and manage the Native American Center to ensure it serves as a welcoming, inclusive, and educational resource for Indigenous students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community.

Event Coordination

Plan, promote, and coordinate campus cultural learning events that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Native American history, culture, and contemporary issues. Work with campus departments and community groups to develop, promote, implement, and host events at the Native American Center and across campus.

Community Building

Build and maintain meaningful community connections by serving as a liaison between the university, local tribal nations, Indigenous community leaders, and external partners.

Student Organization Support
  • Act as an advisor and dedicated support system for the Native student club, assisting with their activities, membership growth, and student-led initiatives to ensure a thriving student community.
  • Supervise Native American Center student employees.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives related to student retention, sense of belonging, and student engagement. Develop and maintain initiatives that support the unique learning needs of Native students, including transition programs for college life.
  • Serve on Native American Center Committee.
  • Serve on Native American Center Advisory Council.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; OR
  • Equivalent preparation demonstrated through lived experience, cultural knowledge, and community leadership, including but not limited to, experiences as Indigenous knowledge keepers and/or Elder.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with student success initiatives.
Physical Demands

Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks. The successful candidate will be able to clearly articulate complex thoughts, concepts, and ideas, in English, in both written and oral.
