Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach beginning operating system installations, introduction to networking, computer hardware and troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through appropriate learning experiences and materials that meet course objectives and program goals.
  • Adhere to the course syllabus and submit any data needed to complete assessment reports.
  • Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, written examinations, and overall observation.
  • Prepare and grade exams, assignments, and/or lab reports in a meaningful way, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students in the class while meeting all institutional deadlines.
  • Actively support student success through guidance, advising, and assisting individual students as needed.
  • Participate in professional activities including curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision, and other professional planning activities.
  • Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
  • Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  • Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software, where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other duties; use such technologies consistently with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule

Schedules vary according to class schedules. Part-time instructors may teach up to (8) contact hours per week or 120 contact hours per semester. The position is seeking someone available to teach face-to-face on weekdays and nights.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned a Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field; OR a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution plus a minimum of five years of job experience in the computer information systems area directly related to the course materials being taught, and at least one relevant industry certification (Microsoft, CISCO, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI-supported tools; ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI-generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent, successful, post-secondary teaching experience in computer systems technology, networking, or network administration.
