Engineering & Manufacturing Teacher AssistantSalary: $28.50 hourly
OverviewThe Engineering and Manufacturing Teacher Assistant supports the instructional program within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Engineering and Manufacturing pathway. This position assists students in developing technical, academic, and workplace readiness skills while promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth. The successful candidate will help create engaging, hands‑on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in engineering, manufacturing, and skilled trades.

- Full‑time Teaching Assistant position at Ypsilanti Community High School.
- Supports Engineering and Manufacturing CTE courses.
- Industry experience is highly valued.
- Assists with classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and machine shop operations.
- Helps maintain a safe learning environment and proper use of equipment.
- Training materials, curriculum resources, CAD lessons, and project plans will be provided to support onboarding and transition.
Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist the teacher in implementing the district‑approved curriculum.
- Support classroom, laboratory, and machine shop instruction.
- Assist students with projects, assignments, and hands‑on learning activities.
- Promote safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Help maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and student engagement.
- Encourage positive student behavior and reinforce classroom expectations.
- Support instructional activities designed to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Assist with preparing materials, equipment, and instructional resources for lessons and projects.
- Help monitor student progress and maintain appropriate records as directed by the teacher.
- Assist with inventory, organization, and maintenance of classroom and shop equipment.
- Support students in developing workplace readiness, employability, and technical skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners as needed.
- Be available for school‑related activities and events as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in engineering, manufacturing, machining, construction, welding, or a related industry.
- Ability to work safely in a machine shop environment.
- Knowledge of and experience using hand tools, power tools, saws, drill presses, mills, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Experience supporting students in hands‑on, project‑based learning environments.
- Familiarity with Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Interest in supporting students pursuing careers in engineering and advanced manufacturing.
