Middle School English & Social Studies Teacher

Job Summary

The Genesee School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School English & Social Studies Teacher to join our team. This full-time position requires an individual who is committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both English language arts and social studies curriculum, and will be able to inspire students to develop critical thinking skills, effective communication, and a love for learning.

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards for English and social studies.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and class participation.
• Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with varying abilities and backgrounds.
• Integrate technology into the curriculum to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Foster a love for reading and writing through innovative teaching practices and literature exploration.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that enhance student learning.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and curriculum updates.
• Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, committees, and events.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Social Studies, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification for middle school English and social studies.
• Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Proficiency in using technology for instruction and student engagement.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
• Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred but not required.
