Position: Mathematics (Tenure Track) Instructor

The Mathematics Discipline at Delta College is seeking a full‑time tenure track faculty member committed to equity, retention, and completion for student success. The instructor will be responsible for effective teaching in the face‑to‑face, blended, and online classroom. Potential candidates will have the ability to teach online as well as face‑to‑face and blended/hybrid courses during the evening, at multiple locations (Downtown Centers), and nontraditional times as needed.

In addition, we seek candidates whose pedagogy, research, and continuous professional development have prepared them to engage with the college's commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Delta College.
  • Demonstrate an inclusive and culturally relevant philosophy of teaching that provides learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students.
  • Commitment to providing a learning environment that addresses the historical and contemporary sociocultural frameworks that provide a more holistic representation of the field of mathematics.
  • Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually of various college level mathematics courses.
  • Focus on supporting and assessing student learning and academic achievement to ensure student success.
  • Continually develop appropriate innovation in learning and teaching to meet diverse learning styles and student needs.
  • Collaborate voluntarily and energetically with colleagues in the academic discipline and with other faculty colleagues to develop effective learning experiences for a diverse student body.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity based on the college statement on diversity.
  • Serve the community through outreach activities.
  • Make effective and innovative use of appropriate technology in the performance of the responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Commit to ongoing educational and professional growth.
  • Engage fully in course, discipline, program development, curriculum development and assessment.
  • Committee participation at the college and related professional organizations.
  • Attend and participate in discipline, division and college meetings.
  • Possess minimum technology skills and understanding of a course management system.
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness which supports student learning and encompasses pedagogies for student success to meet course and/or program requirements.
  • Work in a variety of settings which promote quality learning.
  • Maintain professional development to assure currency within field of practice.
  • Possess effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and willingness to teach dual enrolled students.
