Plant Operator – Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)

Saranac, Michigan

AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a growing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) operator to recruit a Plant Operator for an anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading facility in Michigan.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on operator, maintenance technician, or mechanically minded professional looking to build a career within one of the fastest‑growing sectors in renewable energy. Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will play a key role in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility while supporting the production of low‑carbon renewable natural gas.

The Opportunity

The Plant Operator will be responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of the RNG facility. This position offers exposure to a wide range of industrial equipment, instrumentation, and control systems while providing long‑term career development opportunities within a rapidly expanding organisation.

Candidates with experience from renewable energy, biogas, wastewater, power generation, oil & gas, chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, or similar process industries are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs across plant equipment and systems.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of compressors, boilers, generators, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and ancillary equipment.
  • Assist with plant troubleshooting and fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Monitor plant performance and support efforts to maximise operational efficiency and uptime.
  • Conduct housekeeping, site maintenance, and general plant upkeep to maintain a safe and organised working environment.
  • Assist with compliance activities, including data collection, record keeping, inspections, and permit requirements.
  • Support emergency response activities and participate in an on‑call rotation as required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Work closely with site management to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and reliability enhancements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 1–5 years of experience within an industrial, process plant, maintenance, or operations environment.
  • High School Diploma, GED, trade qualification, or equivalent technical training.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience working with 4-20mA signals, sensors, transmitters, or industrial controls is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PLC‑controlled equipment and automated systems is preferred.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting systems.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
