Senior Engineer, Vehicle CAE

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Senior Engineer, Vehicle CAE to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for performing NVH, durability, strength and stiffness simulations to develop and optimize EV body, chassis, and closure structure.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide vehicle design decisions using CAE tools, with a focus on NVH and durability performance.
  • Assess BIW, Trimmed Body, and full vehicle structural performance using ANSA, Opti Struct, and nCode Design Life.
  • Build, debug, and maintain full-vehicle NVH / durability models using pre-processing tools, such as ANSA and Hyper Mesh.
  • Analyze simulation results, perform iterative studies, and recommend optimized design solutions.
  • Apply advanced optimization methods to improve vehicle performance, including DOE and DFSS.
  • Support component-level and vehicle-level testing and correlate CAE results with physical test data.
  • Prepare clear technical reports and presentations summarizing simulation results and design improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and suppliers to achieve vehicle performance targets.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
  • 8+ years of automotive structures CAE experience, with 8+ years of direct experience in performing full vehicle NVH and durability analysis.
  • Experience using nCode, Opti Struct, NASTRAN, ANSA, and Hyper Works.
  • Extensive NVH problem solving experience in full vehicle, trimmed body using source-path-receiver thinking for structure borne (vibration, noise) and airborne noise.
  • Experience setting modal targets (modal map), isolation strategy, VTF, NTF analysis, and target setting.
  • Experience performing Random Vibration analysis.
  • Experience correlating CAE results with Test results.
  • Experience with optimization tools and techniques using Opti Struct is preferred.
  • Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 10%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
