Senior Hardware Safety Engineer - Consultant

UL is seeking a Functional Safety Consultant with strong electronic hardware design and hardware safety development experience. This role will be deeply involved in the creation of safety work products for a wide range of vehicle and automation features, including complex systems such as electric and autonomous vehicle platforms, industrial automation equipment, and battery and energy storage systems for both mobile and stationary applications.

The role covers a broad set of safety‑related standards, including but not limited to ISO 26262 (with emphasis on part 5 hardware development), IEC 61508, IEC/EN 62061, ISO 61511, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UL 4600, ISO 13849, ISO 21434, and other applicable standards pertaining to functional safety, hardware reliability, and system engineering.

* The candidate must have hands-on electronics hardware design and circuit development experience, including component selection, schematic design, circuit analysis, and safety‑focused hardware development

* M.S. or B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, related technical degree, or equivalent experience

* 5+ years of experience in safety related role in automotive functional safety

* have hands-on electronics hardware design and circuit development experience, including component selection, schematic design, circuit analysis, and safety‑focused hardware development

* Safety Analysis knowledge including FMEA, FMEDA, DFA

* Experience working with ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 standards

Total Rewards:
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary.

This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
