Overview
Leidos is seeking a Senior Substation Site Civil Engineer to join our site/civil department to work on a variety of electric utility projects. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic, energetic and talented person to join a team of professionals and apply the latest technology to help our clients solve their most challenging problems. Typical projects involve site/civil design engineering for both large and small scale utility projects.
Candidates with commercial/industrial site development experience will also be considered. The role focuses on design reviews, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to bids and proposal development. The position includes assuming a responsible engineer role on principal client projects, overseeing work, and ensuring quality control on design packages. Site visits to client substation facilities and occasional travel for meetings and industry events are expected.
The role may involve front-facing client operations such as kickoff meetings. The candidate must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule and budget. This is a senior member of a design team comprising engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.
Location: Candidate MUST reside in the Framingham, MA area or Walled Lake, MI area to work a 50/50 hybrid schedule.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities- Land development permitting including NPDES, stormwater management, and knowledge of other typical local, state, and federal regulations and permit requirements
- Research additional site data through various sources
- Site layout, grading, and drainage design
- Stormwater modeling and design
- Erosion and sediment control design
- Access road design
- Utility coordination and design
- Retaining wall layout and design
- Documentation of all supporting calculations
- Quantity take-offs
- Construction drawings
- Construction specifications
- Construction observation and field engineering
- Coordination and collaboration with other design disciplines
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineer with 4+ years of directly applicable civil-site design experience
- EI/EIT certification preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Micro Station Open Site Designer
- Experience with Hydraflow, ICPR, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling/design programs
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
- Able to execute projects and handle clients with limited supervision
- Willing to travel up to 25%
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
