Contract Duration: Contract through 06/25/2027 (High potential for extension)
Location: Jackson, MI 49201 (Field work throughout the State of Michigan may be required.)

Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Lab Technician to support both laboratory and field operations across Non-Destructive Testing and Chemistry functions. This role involves groundwater and oil sampling, radiation safety testing, technical calculations, and field-based environmental testing activities across Michigan.
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, mathematical aptitude, technical experience, and the ability to work independently in both laboratory and field environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform groundwater sampling at coal plants and HVD sites.
- Collect and document oil and environmental samples from field locations.
- Conduct radiation safety testing and support non-destructive testing activities.
- Perform mathematical calculations related to safety boundaries and work area determinations.
- Support laboratory testing and analysis activities as required.
- Operate company vehicles for travel to various project and testing sites across Michigan.
- Work independently while maintaining strong safety awareness and compliance standards.
- Identify field risks and determine safe operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and sample documentation.
- Assist with additional technical and laboratory tasks as assigned.
- Standard shift: 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM
- Flexibility required for:
- Second shift assignments
- Extended workdays (8–16+ hours depending on field activities)
- Overtime averaging 10+ hours weekly
- Overnight travel may be required.
- All approved travel expenses including mileage, lodging, and meals will be reimbursed.
- Minimum 1 year of technical, field, or laboratory-related experience.
- Strong mathematical aptitude; calculus knowledge preferred.
- Ability to apply math concepts in practical work environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in outdoor field environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions.
- Willingness to learn laboratory and technical testing procedures.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience in environmental sampling, groundwater testing, or technical field services.
- Experience with radiation safety or non-destructive testing environments.
- Prior laboratory or chemistry-related experience preferred but not required.
- DMV search will be included as part of the background check due to company vehicle operation requirements.
- Interview process will include an onsite panel interview.
