Senior Automation Robotics Engineer — Comstock Park, MI.

As a member of the Automation team, the Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for leading, supporting, implementing, and managing automation projects while driving innovation in advancements.
Responsibilities- The candidate will lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. Develop the concept, aid in mechanical and electrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide ongoing support for the robot cell. Possess the skill to project lead other Integrators as a subject matter expert.

- Be part of a team of experts to drive solutions that improve efficiencies, safety and quality
- Work with multiple assembly plants and integrators
- Fanuc and UR robotic experience in integration, programming, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
- Managing small projects/workloads involving Fanuc and UR integrations, safety upgrades on existing equipment, and retrofits
- Strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting abilities
- Proficient in Fanuc robotics systems (additional robotics experience in other brands is a plus)
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC:
Micro Logix, Compact Logix, Control Logix with RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000 software - Experience creating and modifying HMI projects
- Ability to read and follow electrical prints to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment
- Analytical with the ability to evaluate information and determine best solutions
- Provide guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance standards
- Monitor information from materials, events, or environment to detect problems
- Develop performance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime
- Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans
- Willingness to travel in North America – travel up to 50%
- Completion of Automation risk assessments
- Mentor and train plant controls engineers and support production as needed
- Communicate across cross-functional groups
- Support Kaizen, improvement walks, and error-proofing projects
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering
- 8-15 years of experience in a similar role
- Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) experience
- Vision experience to guide robot offsets
