School To Work - Mechanical Engineering – Brake Engineering
We are looking for a talented student in Mechanical Engineering to join our team specializing in Engineering at our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
Responsibilities- The design of various brake platforms in the North America commercial vehicle market from S‑cam and Wedge drum brakes to the EX+ disk brakes.
- Brake design, 3D modeling and 2D detail drawing, workflow process of releasing new products and usage of all necessary Engineering tools for design such as DFMEA, DFM/DFA, statistical analysis, test reports, design review and tech reviews, and DVP&R (Design Validation Plan and Report).
- Support engineers in coordinating and negotiating with brake lab activities including: development, priorities, follow‑up on tests; track and manage test parts; research activities; inspections on service parts or field returns investigations; create technical test reports; open and manage POs for brake engineering and other Engineering areas.
- Understand and apply best practices and contribute to improving them; be compliant with Safety procedures to guarantee a safer environment to work; ensure timely completion of all project objectives; create a positive attitude, quick learner, and a team player with diverse ideas and viewpoints.
- Understand and interpret drawings, dimensions, geometric tolerances, and material specifications.
- Contribute effectively toward team goals and work as a team member to ensure project completion.
- Able to work as a team player supporting cross‑functional groups.
- Excellent presentation skills, communication and proactive attitude.
- Committed to learning and focused on delivering project tasks.
- Problem‑solving mindset.
- Knowledge of MS Office and statistical tools.
- 3D/2D model software – Creo desired.

Low to moderate. - School to work Position – Hourly - 25 to 30 hours/week.
