Description Overview
The Operations Support Engineer provides technical leadership and engineering support to manufacturing and packaging operations across one or more plants/zones.
Scope of the Role- Operations Support:
Support zone/plant performance; analyze KPIs to identify performance gaps and cross‑zone improvement opportunities; assist with troubleshooting, escalations, and root‑cause analysis; monitor/trend KPIs (line efficiency, downtime losses, yield) using analytics and Pareto methods; lead/support corrective action plans; ensure solutions deliver measurable improvements and sustained ROI, and are standardized/scalable. - Continuous Improvement (Perrigo Work System):
Lead waste reduction/efficiency projects; stay current on technologies/techniques; align with cross‑functional partners on project prioritization; work independently and in teams; use Six Sigma (DMAIC), Kepner Tregoe, and other problem‑solving approaches. - Subject Matter Expert (SME):
Expert in latest manufacturing/packaging equipment/technology; train Zone Engineers/Operations; apply core engineering principles to solve complex technical problems; support operations to meet applicable laws (Compliance, OSHA, Environmental, Safety, cGMP) and quality requirements. - Capital Projects:
Lead/support/manage capital projects (ideation to start‑up); develop scopes/cost estimates/economic justifications; support installations, line modifications, and process improvements (URS, FAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, vertical start‑up); coordinate across stakeholders; support asset lifecycle management (reliability, obsolescence, standardization).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Engineering Management preferred).
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals; manage large‑scale projects.
- Read/understand drawings, flowcharts, schematics.
- Lean and Six Sigma experience.
- Economic analysis skills.
- Track multiple projects and meet deadlines/budgets.
- Preferred: FDA current GMP quality systems; hands‑on production operations/control systems.
