We are seeking a highly driven Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical liaison between Nidec and our customers. In this role, you will lead critical technical discussions to deliver solutions that perfectly align with customer requirements. Your primary goal is to drive business growth through design wins while ensuring the rigorous execution and control of awarded projects.

As the face of Nidec's engineering expertise, you will represent the company at external events, manage technical communications, and collaborate closely with global project teams to meet Quality, Design, and Cost (QDC) targets. This is a dynamic, individual-contributor role that requires a strategic thinker who can proactively eliminate and resolve issues to guarantee complete customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
Customer & Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary customer interface alongside the Sales team, fostering strong relationships and ensuring proactive, rapid responses to customer needs.
  • Lead periodic touchpoint meetings with customers, global development centers, and manufacturing facilities to align on technical topics and organize back-office activities.
  • Represent Nidec at external events and marketing activities to promote new technologies and Nidec's engineering capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Key Account Managers (KAMs) to align strategic goals and secure LOI/LON (Letter of Intent/Nomination) awards.
Project & Technical Execution
  • Drive Requirements Engineering and Change Management in close coordination with the customer and back-office R&D and PM teams.
  • Define, secure, and monitor Quality, Design, and Cost (QDC) targets for new business acquisitions and nominated projects.
  • Pursue cost competitiveness by advocating for designs with reduced complexity and lower investment requirements.
  • Manage project documentation, Open Point Lists (OPL), and Minutes of Meeting (MoM) to ensure strict task management and project visualization.
  • Control problem resolution management workflows in collaboration with Quality Assurance (QA) and the customer.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
  • Support benchmarking, market analysis, and new market development initiatives.
  • Align project schedules seamlessly between the Nidec back-office and the customer.
  • Coordinate customer visits to Nidec Sales Offices, Development Centers, and Manufacturing Factories.
  • Make strategic decisions and appropriately elevate blocking points to management to protect Nidec's goals and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Sciences, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Product Development, Application Engineering, or Technical Project Management.
  • Industry Background: Previous experience working within a global company environment is essential.
  • Process Knowledge: Strong functional know-how in Requirements Management, Task Management, Change Management, and Problem Resolution Management.

  • Communication & Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a very good ability to present complex technical information clearly.
  • Customer Service: Excellent relationship-building skills with a strong dedication to customer satisfaction.
  • Global Teamwork: Excellent ability to collaborate across borders, time zones, and cross-functional teams (PM, R&D, QA).
  • Technical Acumen: Very good understanding of product design principles and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Soft Skills: Proven task management capabilities and soft negotiation skills to navigate complex customer requirements.
