Our Automotive Body Solution business is a dedicated local line builder specializing in small-scale projects with a focus on precision and quality. Our expertise encompasses Brownfield Body-in-White (BIW) Automation Lines, offering comprehensive services from design and simulation to manufacturing, installation, and programming. Our capabilities extend to robot and PLC programming, virtual commissioning, and quality improvement, all managed through meticulous project oversight.
In addition, we provide specialized labor, including hemming expertise in roller and table top hemming, as well as prototype equipment for BIW and forming dies. With a strong foundation in consulting, we assist with BIW process optimization and forming die expertise. Our Greenfield BIW services further highlight our versatility and commitment to delivering top-tier solutions in the automotive industry.
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex automotive engineering projects, with a focus on body shop construction and/or tool making. This role ensures successful delivery of projects through effective planning, execution, and control of scope, cost, timing, and quality, while serving as the primary customer interface.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Define and align project scope in collaboration with stakeholders and customers
Develop and formalize project mandates in line with agreed targets and objectives
Lead, coordinate, and control all project activities across cross-functional teams
Identify, escape, and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle
Maintain and update project timelines and critical paths
Manage project costs, deadlines, and deliverables
Prepare monthly project status reports and forecasts
Serve as the primary customer contact for project-related matters
Drive customer satisfaction and collaborate with Business Development
Lead project meetings and facilitate key decisions
Ensure effective change management and claims handling
Maintain project documentation and reporting transparency
Manage project resources in alignment with line management
Support training development and execution for project teams
Ensure successful project acceptance and completion
Education & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- Extensive experience in automotive or automotive supplier industry
Strong background in body shop construction and/or tool making
Proven experience managing complex, large-scale projects
Leadership experience in project or line management roles
International experience preferred
Certifications
- Industrial/technical training with certification as a Technician
PMP certification or equivalent required
Thyssen Krupp Certified PM Professional or similar preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with SAP (R/3 or similar)
Strong knowledge of project management tools and methodologies - Leadership and team management
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
Analytical thinking and problem-solving
Organizational and multitasking ability
Work Conditions/Environment
- Travel throughout North America, including manufacturing plants, construction sites, and customer locations.
- Regular exposure to manufacturing, warehouse, construction, and industrial environments.
- Ability to walk job sites, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May be required to stand or sit for long periods of time
- May be required to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
