Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Payroll Tax Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for preparing and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws as well as payroll tax regulations. Qualified candidate must have a good foundation in payroll tax and payroll, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough attention to detail.
Must be able to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Successful candidate must be able to work independently and solve problems.
Position requires the processing of weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing for our clients including pension, local, state and federal taxes. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. Prepare, print and submit payroll tax reports to Auditors, Accounting and Administrative teams. Balance Pension Funds monthly. File quarterly and annual taxes.
Qualifications- Knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations, and procedures along with willingness to stay updated with changes to tax laws and regulations
- Proficient in payroll software, Paychex preferred, and MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills to accurately calculate tax deductions, benefits and other payroll items
- Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external parties (co-workers, management, clients tax agencies, etc.)
- Possess problem solving skills to efficiently and effectively resolve issues or discrepancies
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll tax reports and filings
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Minimum Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience as a Payroll Tax Specialist or similar role preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus
