Job Description & How to Apply Below

Senior Credit / Portfolio Manager

Position Overview:
A well-established, relationship-driven community bank is seeking a Senior Credit / Portfolio Management professional to join its commercial banking team in the Detroit market.

This role sits at the intersection of credit, team leadership, and long-term succession planning. While aligned to a Portfolio Manager function, this is not a heavily client-facing or production-driven role. Instead, it is best suited for someone who enjoys hands-on credit work, mentoring junior talent, and growing into future leadership within a stable, community banking platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management across C&I and CRE relationships

  • Analyze financial statements, assess risk, and make sound credit recommendations

  • Mentor, coach, and develop credit analysts and junior team members

  • Support team leadership initiatives and contribute to long-term succession planning

  • Partner with lenders and internal stakeholders to evaluate and structure deals within the bank’s credit culture

Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of commercial credit or underwriting experience

  • Experience in a generalist commercial banking environment with exposure to both C&I and CRE

  • Strong credit judgment and ability to think independently

  • Experience mentoring or developing junior credit staff

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Attributes:

  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset

  • Interest in long-term growth within a community bank environment

  • Ability to operate in a credit-first, relationship-driven culture

This is an opportunity to join a stable organization that prioritizes internal development, mentorship, and long-term career growth within a community banking model.

Compensation:
$130,000 per year
