The City Manager’s Office is a collaborative, creative, dynamic office where efforts are focused on accomplishing established City strategies, pursuing innovation, and leading the administration of the City of Troy. The Management Analyst is a key member of this office, working with senior leadership across various departments to carry out assigned tasks and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of local government functions and services, have an innovative nature, and a collaborative work ethic.
DUTIES- Provide highly responsible and complex support to the City Manager by spearheading initiatives, managing projects/programs, conducting research, and engaging in creative problem‑solving.
- Apply knowledge of public administration in municipal management to conduct research, review, analyze, and initiate program or process evaluation.
- Plan and review the progress of assigned programs, including the development of City policies and procedures, and manage special projects for the City Manager. Create reports and presentations.
- Communicate and interact with city management, residents, businesses, and community groups regularly, using excellent written and verbal communication skills in all situations.
- Exercise appropriate discretion around confidential information and materials.
- Attend City Council meetings and other meetings as required.
- Perform related work as required.
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
- The Management Analyst classification requires one (1) to three (3) years of related work experience, while the Senior Management Analyst classification requires four (4) or more years of related work experience.
- May consider applicants with an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Work collaboratively with others, apply exceptional communication skills in all situations, and exercise discretion regarding confidential information.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards). Out-of-state applicants must provide a current driving record at the time of application and obtain a State of Michigan license within one (1) month of appointment.
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).
- Master of Public Administration degree.
- Experience in project management, drafting/revising administrative policies/vision statements, strategic planning, and coordination of training or other events.
- Excellent computer skills and experience developing creative, high-quality presentations and related materials.
- Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and procedures in government.
EVALUATION PROCESS
:
Application review and interview, including work demonstration/presentation.
- Full-time, year-round.
- Forty (40) hours per week, Monday‑Friday (8:00 am‑4:30 pm; standard hours).
- Hours may vary and include regular evening meetings.
- Varying factors determine work‑from‑home availability.
