One of our clients, an ophthalmology practice, is looking for an Ophthalmic Technician to join their team. The position is full-time with a great compensation and benefits package.
- Contract Type: Full-Time Direct Hire (W2).

: $20-30/hr. - Location: Sterling Heights/Troy, MI - On-Site.
The Ophthalmic Technician
's duties include performing examination and treatment rooms before and after patient care, performing basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications, cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments, and assisting physicians during minor in-office procedures.
The Ophthalmic Technician must be able to do pressure checks and refractions, work in a fast-paced environment and be able to do work-up within a timeframe of 15-20 minutes.
Additionally, the Ophthalmic Technician will conduct diagnostic tests such as central and peripheral visual field, ocular motility, color vision, pharmacological pupil tests; or tonometry tests to determine intraocular pressure.
Responsibilities & Duties- Return all patient calls including prescription questions, refills, etc. before the end of the day.
- Taking patient history.
- Visual acuity measurement.
- Refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription).
- Tonometry.
- Measure pupil size and reactivity.
- Test and measure eye function/muscle balance.
- Visual field testing.
- Corneal measurements and topography.
- Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement OCT.
- Retinal thickness and topography.
- Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures.
- IOL Master.
- Other duties include re-stocking rooms; daily scanning of documents into patient EyeMD; documenting no show and cancelled appointments in EyeMD and noting rescheduled if appropriate.
- Knowledge of MIPS.
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
