Looking for a full time medical assistant and receptionist to join our Plastic Surgery Practice (FLEXIBILITY REQUIRED)
This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays as needed. The role includes a combination of daytime and evening shifts to support patient care and surgical operations.
- Day shift: 8:00/9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Evening shift: typically starting at 5:30/6:00 PM and ending around 10:00/11:00 PM
Evening shifts are a required part of this position. Work schedules are assigned by the practice and provided in advance based on operational and patient care needs. 30-40 hours a week
Position SummaryPerforms medical office reception duties to provide outstanding service to patients, including greeting patients and visitors, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, obtaining photo identification and insurance cards, maintaining the reception workspace and lobby areas, coordinating the flow of incoming patients, informing the back office staff of specific patient needs, setting up, organizing and pulling patient charts, maintaining patient charts, and collecting payments due.
The Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties may include but are not limited to the greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room, obtaining medical histories, the measurement and recording of vital signs, preparing patients for an examination/procedure, and assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.

- Greet patients and clients in person and on the telephone in a professional, timely and friendly manner.
- Answers telephone: screens, performs triage, and routes calls. Takes accurate messages, answers questions regarding hours of operation, location of practice, services provided, fees, verification of insurance benefits, financial questions, etc.
- Organizes daily patient flow by providing accurate appointment data, pulling files of scheduled patients, coordinates incoming patient flow via electronic medical records system, notifies back office of arrivals.
- Maintains medical records, HIPAA documentation including letters, photographs, office notes, referrals as assigned.
- Enters patient data into the EMR database and appointments into scheduling system.
- Maintains tracking list of no shows, cancellations, late arrivals and missed appointments.
- Informs patients of the office's payment policy and procedures, collects patient payments in accordance with the time-of service payment policy.
- Works cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, medical and back-office staff and physicians to provide professional and high standards patient service/care.
- Adheres to scheduled work and break hours to ensure adequate front desk coverage.
- Performs other related duties as needed and assigned.
- Escort patient to room and prepares patient for examination, procedure, and treatment.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare, administer, and document medications and immunizations as ordered by the supervising provider. Maintains medication administration records.
- Actively monitor & respond timely to patient requests.
- Discharge patient providing after visit instructions to patient and/or caregiver as directed by the provider.
- Prepare medication request for provider review and signature.
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to two years of prior medical customer service and administrative experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, practice management, copiers, personal computers, printers, facsimiles, telephone.
- 2 years medical assistant experience
- Experience with Modmed (EMA) preferred but not required
- Must be reliable and able to work assigned daytime and evening shifts as scheduled.
