The goal is to make critical software faster, clearer, and easier to use for the professionals who rely on it during emergency situations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their product career who is passionate about design, usability, and mission‑driven technology. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and public safety professionals to ensure our solutions support real‑world emergency response workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with UX designers to apply Tyler’s corporate design system across existing product interfaces.

Product Execution

  • Translate UX concepts and customer needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support backlog grooming, sprint planning, and other Agile development activities.
  • Work with engineering to ensure design standards and workflows are implemented effectively.
  • Gather feedback from public safety agencies, dispatch centers, and emergency response teams.
  • Participate in customer calls, demos, and usability sessions to understand operational challenges.
  • Represent user needs when prioritizing enhancements and improvements.

Product Modernization

  • Support initiatives to refresh legacy product screens and workflows.
  • Ensure new features align with Tyler’s design standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Help maintain consistency across modules and products as the platform evolves.

Operational Support

  • Track feature progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist with sprint QA, usability validation, and release preparation.
  • Document workflows, design decisions, and product updates for internal teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in product management, UX, business analysis, or software development (internships included)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear requirements and documentation
  • Interest in user experience design, usability, and workflow optimization
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, design, and customer‑facing teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
To Be Successful in This Role, You Are…
  • Curious about how real‑world users interact with software under pressure
  • Interested in design systems, usability, and product consistency
  • Comfortable learning technical concepts and working closely with developers
  • Able to balance customer empathy with practical implementation
  • Motivated to improve technology used in mission‑critical public safety environments
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with UX principles, design systems, or Material Design
  • Experience using Agile tools such as Jira, Azure Dev Ops, or similar backlog management systems
  • Coursework or projects related to UX design, human‑centered design, or service design
  • Interest in public safety, emergency services, or government technology
Why This Role Matters

The software used by emergency response teams must be fast, intuitive, and reliable. In high‑stress situations, every second counts. By improving the usability and workflows of our public safety platform, you will help thousands of agencies respond more effectively to emergencies and better serve their communities.
