Senior Underwriter - Sales​/Brokerage

Sycamore Specialty Underwriters, LLC is a Michigan-based property and casualty holding company. Our headquarters is based in Troy, Michigan.

We are looking to hire a Senior Underwriter Sales / Brokerage within our Wholesale Underwriting department in Troy, MI. This role is responsible for providing mentorship and training while developing a book of business for their team. The role requires extensive knowledge of available insurance products, a passion for sales, and excellent interpersonal skills.

• Maintain underwriting files including an understanding of policy reviews, inspection reviews, and endorsements
• Assess new business submissions and negotiate terms, by selecting the markets that can provide the most coverage at the best price
• Understand and be knowledgeable of markets and underwriting guidelines
• Solicit new business through various sales and marketing techniques and begin establishing relationships within a territory utilizing agency visits, marketing emails and cross selling
• Work with retail insurance agents, to develop and submit business to target markets for placement
• Follow submissions through the process, to assure quotes are provided in a timely manner and negotiate with all parties involved to reach an acceptable price
• Coordinate and handle administrative workflows in conjunction with support team(s) to establish accurate and prompt response to service issues
• Preparing reports, loss runs and supplemental information for underwriters
• Updating existing policies
• Maintaining producer relationships
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Office work as assigned/scheduled

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 5 years insurance experience; E&S experience preferred
• Proven track record of building and maintaining a book of business
• Knowledge and experience of property and casualty insurance including coverage, rating, terminology, and technical procedures.
• Appropriate agent and broker licensing and CE credits, as needed
• RPLU, CIC, CPCU or other industry designation(s) a plus
