Machine Operator / Coater Technician

Pay: $20–$22/hour (based on experience)
Position SummaryOur client is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator / Coater Technician to join their growing production team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating coating equipment used to apply solutions to continuous sheet materials while ensuring all products meet quality and production standards.
The ideal candidate will have previous manufacturing machine operation experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues in a fast-paced production environment.
ScheduleProduction is generally scheduled Monday through Thursday; however, candidates must be available to work Fridays as needed based on production demands.
First Shift- 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM during 10‑hour production schedules
- 3:00 AM – 3:00 PM during 12‑hour production schedules
- Shift changeover occurs at 3:00 PM
Candidates must be flexible to work either schedule based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate coating equipment using documented work instructions and production work orders.
- Load and unload rolls of material onto coating machinery.
- Monitor and regulate machine settings, solution application rates, and product quality.
- Troubleshoot coating and process issues to maintain product consistency and quality standards.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Document production, quality, and process data accurately.
- Work closely with Quality and Production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Identify, pack, move, and prepare hazardous materials for proper disposal, including solvent‑laden rags, waste solutions, and cleanup materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with training and cross‑training activities when authorized.
- Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and production documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using measuring tools and performing quality inspections preferred.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing production priorities.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Good visual acuity and manual dexterity required.
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
- Regular exposure to chemicals, fumes, solvents, and temperature variations.
- Must follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping procedures.
- Noise levels are generally low to moderate.
