Full-time

About WSE

Westshore Electronics (WSE) is an ISO 9001-certified electronics manufacturing company in Holland, Michigan. We build long-term customer relationships by delivering dependable printed circuit board assembly and related electronics manufacturing services with strong quality discipline, responsive communication, and practical problem-solving.

WSE has a tight, positive work culture where people know each other, work directly with leadership, and take pride in doing things the right way. Position

Summary

WSE is seeking an Operations Manager with a strong manufacturing engineering or process engineering background to lead day-to-day operations, production scheduling, shipping/receiving, and inventory control. This is not only an administrative operations role; it requires someone who understands how manufacturing processes actually work, can diagnose process problems, and can turn engineering-level insight into practical operational improvements.

The ideal candidate is a former Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar hands-on technical manufacturing leader who has moved into operations leadership. Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, process improvement, production flow, quality systems, and root-cause problem solving is highly important for success in this role.

This position is responsible for improving operational performance, strengthening manufacturing processes, supporting company growth goals, and developing the people and systems needed for consistent execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing operations, production scheduling, shipping/receiving, and inventory control.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team in planning and executing company growth, financial, quality, and operational goals.
  • Apply manufacturing engineering and process engineering experience to improve production flow, quality, repeatability, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Identify and resolve process constraints, recurring production issues, quality escapes, rework drivers, and material-flow problems.
  • Drive operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, problem-solving, standard work, and best-practice sharing.
  • Develop, maintain, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that support safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and productivity goals.
  • Use accurate operational and quality data to identify improvement opportunities and support sound business decisions.
  • Lead cost-reduction and productivity-improvement initiatives, with a target of reducing controllable operational costs by 3-5% annually where practical.
  • Coach, train, and develop team members to strengthen skills, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, engineering, purchasing, sales, customer service, and finance to improve flow and execution.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, team-oriented culture consistent with WSE’s values.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or similar technical manufacturing role is strongly preferred and highly important for this position.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or a comparable manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand manufacturing processes at a technical level and translate that knowledge into operational execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, business, or a related field preferred; engineering degree highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success improving processes, reducing cost, improving quality, improving production flow, or increasing throughput.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, FMEA, visual management, root-cause analysis, and mistake-proofing methods.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, project management, financial impact, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to lead across functions through both direct authority and influence.
  • Strong communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience developing or improving production processes, work instructions, fixtures/tooling, process controls, test processes, or quality systems.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred;
Green Belt or Black Belt helpful. Master Black Belt is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in low- to mid-volume/high-mix electronics manufacturing.
  • ERP/MRP, production scheduling, inventory control, and materials flow experience.
