General SummaryThe Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP) is a registered nurse with advanced education and training in pediatrics. A Physician assistant is an advanced practice provider with advanced education and training in managing all ages. The PNP/PA provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to children and adolescents in the emergency department setting. The PNP/PA works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for patients and their families.

- Perform comprehensive physical examinations of children and adolescents in the emergency department.
- Diagnose and treat common pediatric illnesses and injuries.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, X-rays, and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for pediatric patients.
- Educate patients and families about their health conditions and treatment options.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date on current pediatric medical knowledge and best practices.
Education / Training:
- Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
- 2 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a Pediatric Emergency or Pediatrics setting, preferred.
- Previous nursing experience in Pediatric Emergency or Pediatrics preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- State of Michigan Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license required.
- AHA/ARC BLS certification required.
