About the Unit

2 East is a 14‑bed medical observation unit and an 8‑bed observation area where patients are evaluated and tested to determine inpatient admission versus discharge for stays of 48 hours or less. The unit emphasizes teamwork and high‑quality care, working closely with the MOU hospitalist and care team to provide safe, proficient patient care.

The RN, operating under the ANA scope of practice, uses the nursing process to provide professional care, incorporating patient‑family centered principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. Nursing care is delivered under the direction of the Nurse Leader, following Corewell Health policies and procedures, and emphasizes the impact of patient/family partnerships on outcomes.

• Associate’s in Nursing Required
• Baccalaureate in Nursing Required within five years
• Graduates from a non‑accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute‑care experience or two years in a licensed health‑care role and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within two years
