Lab Tech (Open) – Troy, MI
Responsible for accurately and efficiently analyzing gases, maintaining quality control, and ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Contribute essential expertise to the certification of candidate gas standards in compliance with established specifications.
- Conduct analysis for specialty gases and finished product testing; collaborate on scheduling of all products to be analyzed, proper storage, labeling and shipping.
- Lead and conduct analyses of gases using analytical instrumentation.
- Perform production testing and quality control analysis of specialty gas mixtures and pure gases.
- Maintain accuracy of label control sheets and release labels.
- Develop, refine, and verify validation of test methods.
- Ensure quality compliance with standard operating procedure manual requirements.
- Review production records and release products for distribution.
- Prepare gas analysis certification reports for customer distribution.
- Coordinate with supervisor regarding delivery schedules, product complaints and special product requests.
- Partner with management regarding maintenance of health and safety and ISO quality programs.
- Required: Postsecondary courses in chemistry or related science and/or combination of college‑level courses in science or math OR 1 year of experience in laboratory analysis in an industrial environment.
- Preferred: Knowledge of analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, spectroscopy and statistical methods; ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); ability to coordinate efforts with multiple departments; aptitude for high precision work; teamwork; good communication; reliable transportation; ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex instructions; ability to present information, solve practical problems, and interpret documents; add/subtract/multiply/divide in all units; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
