Job Summary
Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) Specialist at Triumph Geared Solutions – Macomb will develop, manage, and maintain the facility’s ES&H Program, promoting safe and healthful work practices. The ES&H Specialist works with employees at all levels, represents the company as liaison with governmental agencies, and interacts directly with the company's management team.
Duties & Responsibilities- Lead development of facility strategic ES&H Planning. Work with plant management and staff to implement and execute the plan.
- Lead and/or participate in the investigation of employee concerns, ES&H incidents, and near misses, along with corrective action development, implementation, and follow‑up.
- Maintain and communicate ES&H metrics as required to facility, division, and corporate ES&H management.
- Ensure ES&H reviews are integrated into the Management of Change process and the Lean efforts.
- Evaluate effectiveness of existing ES&H programs; determine the need for any additional programs; develop and implement additional programs as needed.
- Act as the facility ES&H contact with government agencies.
- Track and audit programs for compliance with all state, city, and federal regulations, including inspections, audits, and data for environmental reports, and submit reports on time.
- Develop and conduct environmental and safety training for new employees, provide annual training for existing employees, lead the safety committee, and conduct walk‑throughs.
- Ensure proper monitoring and staffing of the plant environmental control equipment and submit monitoring/sampling/reporting as required by permit.
- Lead the Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD) Program and generate, maintain, and report FOD metrics to leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
- B.A./B.S. in Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Business Management, or related field.
- ES&H-related certifications preferred (REM, CIH, CSP, CHMM).
- 3–5 years of ES&H experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to assemble and analyze safety incident data and provide statistical information for corporate reporting.
- Leadership and guidance skills for the site management team.
- Able to bend, stoop, stand, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Ability to remain seated for long periods while working on a computer.
- Manually dexterous to operate computer keyboard and standard office equipment.
- Ability to view data on a computer screen or paper for extended periods.
- Interact with a diversity of people and personnel at all levels.
