Position: Sales & Business Development Manager (Vehicle Interior & Comfort Systems)

Job Summary

The Sales & BD Manager will facilitate new customer account development, manage new sales with current customers, and maintain and expand current business with key customer accounts. The primary responsibility is to secure new business while maintaining and expanding existing relationships, using technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build Nidec sales.

Responsibilities
  • Find new opportunities to grow and expand business for company wide future growth.
  • Identify target customers and prepare sales strategy to achieve sales targets.
  • Identify product segments to target specific customers.
  • Collect market and competitor information and provide feedback to the Sales Department Head and/or Sales Director.
  • Seek and secure new business opportunities with key customer accounts.
  • Maintain and expand existing business with customer accounts.
  • Act as liaison between customer demands and plant demands.
  • Manage sales forecasts and resolve commercial issues with key customer accounts.
  • Resolve all issues to the complete satisfaction of the customer and Nidec.
  • Create and maintain a database of customer knowledge to build sales strategy.
  • Work closely with R&D/AE on promotion of products to existing and/or potential new customers, elaborating technical proposals and reviews.
  • Provide detailed customer feedback to Nidec organization and represent the customer within the organization.
  • Travel globally with customers to support product launches and production issues.
  • Lead all business activities and understand all customer requirements including commercial, engineering, prototype, quality and production.
  • Process orders, manufacturing requests, purchase orders, and delivery date management.
  • Act as the “voice of the customer” to ensure requirements are met and exceeded.
  • Collaborate with other regions’ GKAM/LKAM and AMEC HQ Sales to enhance global Nidec sales.
  • Manage customer sales from conception through the end of service obligations.
  • Ensure customer expectations (long‑ and short‑term) are met.
  • Focus on program tracking, profit improvement, and customer satisfaction throughout project life.
  • Track KPIs including revenue and profitability to meet sales plans and personal goals.
  • Use internal reporting system to track sales growth, opportunities, product performance, and value per customer.
  • Update short‑ and long‑term sales plans with VP of Sales and BD based on KPI results.
  • Oversee pricing policies.
  • Create a sales plan and monitor results (monthly, quarterly, fiscal year).
  • Work with customers and internal departments on collection issues.
  • Ensure compliance of activities regarding sales price as defined in procedures and work instructions.
  • Make periodic revisions of procedures and work instructions as required.
  • Propose improvements to sales processes.
  • Follow safety requirements, use personal protective equipment, report unsafety conditions, and follow ergonomics recommendations.
  • Follow, direct, and facilitate 3Q6S guidelines to help NAMA reach health, safety and cost goals.
  • Practice rational use of company resources and eliminate waste.

  • English language required;
    Japanese and Spanish are a plus.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred, or a similar degree.

Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in the automotive industry dealing with major OEMs or Tier1 suppliers as sales (Account Manager) or Sales Engineer.
  • Program management experience preferred (PMI certification is a plus).
  • Product knowledge of motors preferred.
Certifications / Training

PMI or PMP certification is preferred but not required.
