Role OverviewAmbulatory Anesthesia Solutions is seeking a driven, relationship-oriented Director of Business Development to help expand the company's footprint across ambulatory surgery centers. This individual will be responsible for identifying, building, and advancing relationships with ASC administrators, physicians, and other key decision-makers to introduce AAS's anesthesia management services and create new client growth opportunities.
The ideal candidate will bring a disciplined, proactive approach to prospecting and relationship development, with sales or business development experience preferably within healthcare services, anesthesia, ASC operations, physician practice management, or a related field. This person must be professional, polished, approachable, and able to build trust with healthcare leaders through thoughtful communication and consistent follow-through.
This role requires someone who is highly motivated, fast-paced, resilient, and energized by meeting new people, uncovering business needs, and creating value. The right candidate will be able to ask thoughtful questions, understand where ASCs may be dissatisfied with their current anesthesia provider, and position AAS as a responsive partner that can improve staffing continuity, operating room utilization, patient care, provider engagement, and overall cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Drive new business development efforts by identifying and pursuing ASC growth opportunities across target markets.
- Travel locally and regionally to visit prospective ambulatory surgery center clients, maintain a consistent market presence, and build relationships with administrators, physicians, ownership groups, and other key stakeholders.
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospective ASC clients through disciplined outreach, relationship development, consistent follow-up, and clear tracking of activity, decision-makers, next steps, and growth opportunities.
- Develop a strong understanding of each center’s current anesthesia model, provider coverage, staffing challenges, case volume, operating room utilization, satisfaction levels, and financial or operational pain points.
- Ask thoughtful questions to identify where administrators and physicians may be dissatisfied with their current anesthesia provider relationship, including coverage gaps, inconsistent staffing, service quality, communication, cost structure, or lack of partnership.
- Position AAS’s services as solutions that can support better patient care, stronger provider continuity, improved operating room flow, optimized staffing, and cost savings.
- Partner with AAS leadership, operations, recruiting, and clinical teams to assess prospect needs and align potential service solutions with AAS’s delivery capabilities.
- Represent AAS as a trusted, friendly, and highly responsive partner in the ASC and anesthesia community.
- Gather market intelligence on competitors, anesthesia service models, ASC needs, regional growth opportunities, and provider coverage challenges.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on business development activity, pipeline progress, market feedback, barriers, and opportunities.
- 5+ years of sales or business development experience required, including experience selling services or solutions into healthcare organizations; anesthesia, ASC, physician practice management, medical device, or healthcare staffing experience preferred.
- Sales, business development, account management, or relationship-building experience required, preferably within healthcare services, anesthesia, ASCs, physician practice management, medical device, healthcare staffing, or a related healthcare environment.
