Due to continued growth, the company is seeking an experienced account manager to lead the General Motors business.
This position offers the opportunity to manage a high-profile OEM account while working closely with engineering, program management, manufacturing, and executive leadership to drive profitable growth and customer satisfaction.
Basic Purpose and ObjectiveThe Account Manager will serve as the primary commercial contact for General Motors, managing all aspects of the customer relationship from strategic planning through production. The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of GM's purchasing organization, engineering processes, product development system, launch requirements, and commercial protocols.
This individual will be responsible for growing the business, managing commercial negotiations, coordinating customer activities internally, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as the primary commercial representative for all General Motors business activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with GM purchasing, engineering, program management, supplier quality, manufacturing, and executive stakeholders.
- Thoroughly understand GM's internal procedures, approval processes, sourcing methodology, and organizational structure.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within General Motors.
- Lead commercial discussions including RFQs, pricing strategy, quotations, negotiations, contract reviews, and long‑term agreements.
- Coordinate with engineering teams during product development to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and executed.
- Drive business growth while achieving revenue and profitability objectives.
- Manage program financial performance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support launch activities and coordinate cross‑functional teams to resolve commercial or customer‑related issues.
- Monitor customer forecasts, production volumes, engineering changes, and program timing.
- Develop strategic account plans and provide accurate sales forecasts to executive management.
- Represent the company during customer meetings, technical reviews, and executive presentations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of competitive market conditions and industry trends within automotive thermal management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of five years of automotive OEM account management experience.
- Direct experience managing business with General Motors is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GM's purchasing systems, product development processes, organizational structure, and supplier protocols.
- Experience selling automotive HVAC systems, thermal management products, climate control components, or other technically engineered automotive products.
- Strong commercial negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, and executive leadership.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Willingness to travel periodically to customer locations and company facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience with automotive HVAC modules, compressors, heat exchangers, blowers, refrigerant systems, thermal management components, or related technologies.
- Experience launching programs with General Motors.
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, change management, and automotive program management processes.
- Knowledge of current automotive electrification and thermal management trends.
