We are seeking a Project Manager level – Ecological Specialist to join G2 Consulting’s Great Lakes Region team. This individual will bring solid natural resource expertise and a passion for environmental work, supporting project teams with wetland delineations, natural resource permitting, wildlife and aquatic species surveys, ecosystem restoration, mitigation, construction oversight, and other related efforts as needed. The ideal candidate will work closely with other project managers and senior staff to support and further develop the delivery of environmental studies for projects involving recreation, residential, commercial, industrial, and power & energy, and other initiatives for both private and public sector clients.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Conduct wetland delineations and other ecological assessments in accordance with local, state and federal requirements
- Oversee permitting, compliance, and agency coordination for projects including utilities, renewables, transportation, and land development across the Great Lakes Region
- Prepare and provide technical reviews of reports and permit applications, including delineation reports, flora and fauna assessments, and mitigation options/plans
- Coordination and clear communication with clients and regulatory agencies
- Collect, manage, and analyze field data using GPS and ArcGIS Online tools
- Collaborate with other Project Managers and senior staff to deliver high-quality technical work
- Generate new client opportunities and project related technical proposals
- Technical training and support of staff
- Strong interest in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and natural resources
- Experience with wetland delineation, plant identification, and ecological assessments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a detail-oriented, safety-focused mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Comfortable with field sampling techniques, GPS equipment, and data management
- Organized, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills in a field-based environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform physically demanding field work (walking long distances, lifting up to 40 lbs., working in varying weather conditions)
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or a related field from an accredited program
- 8-10 years of experience conducting wetland delineations using the USACE Manual and Regional Supplements
- 2-5 years of project execution and management preferred
- Wetland delineation training
- Demonstrated experience with plant, soil, and wetland identification
