Overview
Position Title: 3D Field Technician
Location: Troy, MI
Position Description
The 3D Field Technician is responsible for the set-up, layout, and day-to-day survey needs of the company in the field setting. This is a vital position in our everyday GPS (stringless) paving operations in both concrete and asphalt divisions.
Responsibilities- Show up on time ready to work every day
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Set up and maintain UTS (Universal Total Station) for stringless paving operations, specifically Trimble
- Basic layout and grade control within the construction of the projects
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills:
- Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work extended hours in a construction environment
- Basic problem solving and decision-making skills
- Possess a general understanding of daily technological devices (i.e. computer, tablet, phone, etc.)
- Lift and carry equipment on uneven terrain when necessary
- Be able to work and complete tasks assigned without direct supervision
Education/
Experience:
- 3D modeling/mapping experienced preferred, but not required
- Experience in the road building industry, or in a related field, is a plus
- High school diploma
The physical abilities of this position require the employee to spend long periods of time on their feet. Lifting requirement of up to 50 pounds. The ability to maneuver throughout a construction site with the necessary equipment to complete tasks. Employee must have reliable transportation to be able to get to job sites and be willing to travel when needed. This is a field construction position and the day-to-day conditions that are associated with that.
