Job Description
The Welder / Rigger is responsible for performing high‑quality welding, fabrication, rigging, and material‑handling activities to support equipment installation, repair, and manufacturing operations. This role requires proficiency in multiple welding processes, safe rigging practices, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to operate industrial lifting and material‑handling equipment. Strong attention to safety, equipment care, and task accuracy is essential.
Key Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication- Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on a variety of materials with high precision and quality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete fabrication tasks accurately.
- Cut, grind, shape, and prepare materials using industry‑standard hand and power tools.
- Ensure all welds meet structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and safety requirements.
- Safely set up, secure, lift, and move materials, machinery, and equipment using appropriate rigging methods.
- Operate Hi‑Lo (forklift), overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment.
- Work at elevated heights using ladders, lifts, and fall‑protection systems as required.
- Maintain welding machines, tools, and rigging equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Inspect work areas and equipment prior to use and report any defects or hazards.
- Follow all company, OSHA, and industry safety protocols at all times.
- Use PPE and safety equipment consistently and correctly.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and adhere to site‑specific operational requirements.
- Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, service, and repair (up to 60%).
- Proven welding experience (MIG, TIG, Stick), typically 3–5+ years in a fabrication or industrial setting.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Experience operating cranes, forklifts, rigging gear, and material‑handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of welding symbols, fabrication sequences, and rigging best practices.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
- Welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent).
- Rigging certification or documented rigging experience.
- Experience with field service or equipment installation.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Reaching with hands and arms; climbing and balancing.
- Lifting and carrying materials up to 50 lbs.
- Industrial fabrication shop and field‑service environments.
- Exposure to welding sparks, fumes, noise, heat, and moving equipment.
- Use of protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and harnesses.
