Heartwood-Civil​/Mechanical Equipment Operator; Eligible to drive

Job Overview

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various equipment such as Backhoe, Skid Steer, Excavator, Dozer, and other miscellaneous equipment. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation, safety, and maintenance of the equipment being operated. Must possess the ability to safely operate equipment in the presence of field crew members and utilities, ensuring the safety of all persons, equipment, property, and utilities in the area.

Operators are responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and reporting any violations to field supervision immediately.

• Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
• Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
• Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
• Must work well as part of a team.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and report violations to field supervision immediately.
• Mobilize equipment, including loading, unloading, securing, set up, and tear down.
• Maintain and account for all equipment, vehicles, and tools, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
• Serve as backup to other positions at the direction of management and perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience excavating near underground utilities.
• Valid driver’s license required;
  Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement preferred.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs daily and perform repetitive tasks such as reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping.
• Ability to climb, balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, and work at elevated heights or confined spaces.
• Must be able to work on uneven ground, on dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel; tolerate extreme heat, cold, humidity, rain, loud noise, and potential chemical exposure.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, pass required physical examinations, and meet all other required tests.
• Strong communication skills, ability to understand verbal instructions and produce accurate documentation.

Work Location:

Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.

Mobility Barriers:
Uneven ground, obstructed pathways, low/high elevations, confined work spaces.

Environmental Conditions:

Predominantly outdoor work; exposure to extreme heat, cold, humidity, rain, loud noise from tools and machinery, potential chemical exposure.
