Performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled road construction, maintenance, and rubbish tasks. Operates a variety of equipment and tools used in the construction and maintenance of municipal infrastructure and the completion of rubbish tasks. This position may work varied shifts.
ResponsibilitiesPhysical demands:
This work requires the constant exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, lifting, and repetitive motion; frequent sitting and occasionally climbing or balancing, pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements;
vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to recognize information at normal spoken work levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make find distinctions in sound; work requires operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surrounding and activities;
work is regularly performed near moving mechanical parts, exposure fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, vibrations and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and blood borne pathogens; work is generally performed in a very loud noisy location (e.g. jackhammer work, garbage recycle plant). This position may work varied shifts and must be available to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and regular workdays, as needed.
This includes responding to emergency situations that require attention outside of standard working hours.
