This position is responsible for performing various job tasks at a shop facility located in Muskegan, MI with travel to work on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites as needed. Work performed on hazardous waste sites may include possible exposure to lead, PCBs, H2S, arsenic, and various other metals, chemicals, and conditions. Job tasks involve manual labor in various weather conditions.

  • General construction equipment and light/heavy diesel engine maintenance experience required
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Must be willing to learn, adapt to new job tasks, and work with a team
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training required
  • Per diem / living allowance and trips home.
  • Subject to a background check & physical/drug screen
  • Must be able to wear PPE when needed
  • Schedule Monday thru Saturday with occasional Sunday work

Full Time Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour plus overtime per state law, travel pay and per diem per company policy.

This position will be assigned to a local shop in Muskegan, MI with travel to various sites across the US on an as needed basis. To be considered for future projects, candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform the job in compliance with ENTACT safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct in-depth inspection of heavy machinery to identify their faults.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trailers, and hydraulic systems.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and identify malfunctions and failures in construction equipment and vehicles in a field environment
  • Assist site management and equipment operators with addressing outstanding mechanical and maintenance issues.
  • Accurately record time, parts, and inspection checklists. Maintain accurate records of repairs performed.
  • Move company equipment safely on site or in a laydown yard as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment and vehicles in accordance with OEM requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, cooling systems, exhaust, brakes, suspensions, lights, etc. on a variety of construction equipment, heavy duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect and replace worn or broken parts. Fit and adjust new or repaired parts.
  • Weld and hard‑faced wear items on heavy equipment buckets and attachments.
  • Safely operate gauges, forklifts, torches, grinders, welders, and various hand and power tools.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good maintenance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while working on equipment in the shop or field.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of Job Safety Analyses, observations, and other reports.
  • Promote the use of Stop Work Authority.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high‑quality culture in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must be capable of successful participation in the ENTACT‑USDOT Qualified Driver program for operators of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
