Location:
Troy, MI, USA. This is an onsite role with the Stanley Engineered Fastening (SEF) team.
As a Product Development Engineer - Software, you will develop and maintain software for SEF Automated Fastening Systems, become a product expert across SEF lines, participate in prototype development and testing, drive feature development, support operations, test and validate systems, collaborate across global teams, and analyze data for insights.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain software for SEF Automated Fastening Systems ensuring reliability, maintainability, and performance.
- Become a product expert with all major SEF product lines.
- Participate in building prototype systems and perform real‑world testing and fastening operations.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Sales to define, design, and implement new software features addressing customer needs.
- Assist Plant Operations and Technical Field Services by troubleshooting software and electrical system issues.
- Write comprehensive test plans and perform validation testing to guarantee system quality and compliance.
- Work closely with global team members from other regions and product lines.
- Analyze large datasets to uncover trends and actionable insights from machine measurement and process logs.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong object‑oriented programming skills in managed, unmanaged languages (C#, C++,
C) and experience programming embedded systems on Linux. - Willingness to adapt to various programming domains including full‑stack web applications.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and hands‑on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, JTAG/in‑circuit debuggers, and serial debuggers.
- Background in industrial automation, mechatronics, and familiarity with industrial networks such as Device Net, Ether Net/IP or Profinet is a plus.
