Position Description

The Asphalt Tack Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck that sprays asphalt tack to prepare a road surface for paving. They also perform maintenance on the truck and other equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Spray asphalt tack to prepare the road surface
• Maintain and perform safety checks on the truck and equipment
• Load oil into the truck
• Fill asphalt and burner tanks
• Clean and set spray bars
• Clean excess asphalt from tanks
• Follow directions from supervisors
• Monitor temperature and heat oil within recommended temperature
• Transport and deliver materials
• Keep records of material or equipment usage
• Assist with additional duties when the truck is not in use
• Follow all safety rules and regulations
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
• Ability to operate different asphalt paving equipment
• Perform daily maintenance

Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Valid Commercial Driving License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement, or ability to obtain Tanker Endorsement
• 2-3 years of asphalt equipment experience, or in a related field
• 1-2 years of experience driving CDL vehicles, preferably in an asphalt environment

Work Environment/Physical Abilities:

The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. May require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Asphalt Screed Operator functions.

Employee will be required at times to work nights, weekends, over 40-hour work weeks.
