Questar III BOCES is seeking a dedicated, full-time Teaching Assistant for our two-year Career and Technical Education (CTE) Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program.

The full-time probationary Teaching Assistant position for our Career and Technical Education (CTE) HVAC class is located at our Robert H. Gibson Technical School in Troy, NY. We are looking for a mechanically-minded, student-focused Teaching Assistant to join our HVAC program. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between theory and the field, helping high school students transition from "learning how it works" to "diagnosis and repair."

You'll work alongside a Lead Instructor to maintain a safe, professional environment that mirrors the industry, ensuring students master the skills needed for entry-level career placement. Utilizing state-of-the art professional tools and computer systems, students learn the design, installation, and repair of traditional HVAC systems. Under the direction of a certified CTE Teacher, the Teaching Assistant will assist in the delivery of instruction and management of safe classroom behaviors.

Students receive extensive training in home energy efficiency and have the opportunity to earn high-value industry credentials, including:

• 10-Hour OSHA Safety Training
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification
• Universal R-410A Safety Training and Certification

Working under the direct supervision and guidance of a certified CTE Teacher, you will:

• Assist in the delivery of hands-on and classroom instruction.
• Support classroom and lab management, including student behavior and safety protocols.
• Help prepare instructional materials and maintain a productive learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Certification:
  New York State (NYS) Teaching Assistant certification is required at the time of hire (or a documented willingness to become certified).
• Industry
  
  Experience:
  
  Experience in a construction-related industry is strongly encouraged.
• Preferred:
  Prior experience working directly with HVAC systems is highly desirable.
