Description of job:

Snap Care is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented  Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech)  to join a dedicated perioperative team in Troy, NY. The Surg Tech will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and operating room staff during procedures by preparing sterile fields, managing surgical instruments, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. This position is essential in ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile technique, and contributing to efficient, successful surgical outcomes in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited  Surgical Technology program
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)  credential preferred (NBSTSA)
Minimum  1 year of recent operating room experience  in a hospital or surgical center
Strong understanding of  sterile technique, surgical instruments, and OR safety protocols
Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond quickly during routine and emergent procedures
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
BLS certification required

Responsibilities:
Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterilized and properly set up
Assist surgeons by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and maintaining the sterile field throughout surgical procedures
Monitor for breaks in sterile technique and take appropriate corrective action
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on the procedure type and sequence
Handle, label, and transport surgical specimens according to facility protocols
Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment such as electrocautery units, suction devices, and powered instruments
Participate in surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety
Assist with OR turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent cases
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative staff to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality care
