Java Team Lead

Forte Group is looking for a Java Team Lead to join our team. Our client's product and engineering team owns an enterprise-class workload automation platform that provides a centralized, enterprise-wide interface for planning and controlling the execution of business processes via automation of jobs scheduling and workflow orchestration across multiple applications, systems, and infrastructure. The entire product ecosystem consists of several applications tightly integrated with each other and used to orchestrate complex IT workflows, optimize workload automation activities, provide centralized management of schedules, collect analytics, and stream data related to software operations.

Our engineering organization is international and distributed across Poland, Ukraine, Argentina, and the United States, with colleagues also based in Germany, the Netherlands, and other European countries.

The structure consists of:

• 2 end-to-end Feature Teams responsible for building and evolving core product functionality.
• A dedicated Test Automation Team ensures quality and reliability.
• The Escalation Team, which you will join, is a specialized group that partners closely with Support, Feature Teams, and QA to resolve critical production issues, investigate complex problems, and deliver sustainable fixes. This team acts as a bridge between engineering and customer-facing functions, ensuring that urgent challenges are addressed quickly without slowing down ongoing feature development.

We use Jira for backlog management and prioritization, Confluence for documentation, and collaborate daily via Slack and Zoom. Our teams follow a Scrum-based Agile process with 2-week iterations, structured backlog grooming, and a strong culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing across distributed locations.

• Proactively lead an Agile team towards predictable delivery with quality, following the agreed way of working and ensuring expected cadence of deliverables.
• Maintain and support collaborative culture with focus on delivering business value.
• Represent the team upfront the other teams, internal and external stakeholders, be primary contact and own communication with the client’s engineering team.
• Align the team with the other teams, identify and resolve impediments when necessary.
• Help team members to meet professional challenges, advise on best approaches, do 121s (recommended once per 2~3 weeks) and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Identify successor to your own and other critical roles in the team to avoid over-responsibility and protect team members from excessive stress.
• Interview candidates, provide recommendations to invite the right people into the team from both hard and soft skills perspective.
• Work with stakeholders to negotiate team goals aligned to their expectations.
• Ensure the team stays focused on and delivers against the goals, effectively adapts to changing requirements.
