Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Principal Dynamics Engineer to support the Aircraft Wheels & Brakes product line. The role focuses on dynamic responses to braking, vibration analysis, and root cause investigations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead structural dynamics projects for aircraft wheels & brakes.
- Create and validate structural dynamics models (modal analysis, stability assessment, transient analysis, etc.) using ANSYS Mechanical, LS‑Dyna, and other CAE tools.
- Determine parameters for dynamics-related dynamometer test programs.
- Provide testing oversight for instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis.
- Update finite element models with test data correlation.
- Provide design recommendations based on model and test results.
- Resolve field/operational vibration issues using RCCA.
- Lead technology development and analytical methods improvement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development, validation, and qualification.
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work.
- Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (or advanced degree) with minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or 5 years with advanced degree).
- 5+ years experience in structural dynamics, NVH, and/or friction‑induced vibration product development.
- Experience with dynamics modeling and simulation using LS‑Dyna, Abaqus Explicit, or similar.
- Experience in test instrumentation, data acquisition, signal processing, and model validation.
- Experience in aero structures, aircraft wheels and brakes.
- Experience with highly nonlinear dynamic models for explicit solvers.
- Programming/scripting experience in MATLAB and Python.
- Hands‑on vibration testing and discrete data post‑processing (FFT, ODS).
- Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑810, DO‑160, or similar aerospace standards.
