What You Will Do:
- Coordinate development, compliance, qualification, support, and sustainment of Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) with Program Team, external customer(s), and SDE suppliers.
- Work closely with external customer(s), Systems, and SDE suppliers to decompose customer and regulatory requirements into SDE component requirements.
- Perform analyses and review component requirements to assure SDE component(s) and the system(s) they compose will function as intended and be safe and reliable.
- Lead robust investigations for SDE component test failures, field returns, and/or other field issues to identify root cause identification and implement corrective action.
- Support change management for SDE components as needed. Examples include: quality findings, manufacturing changes, obsolescence, value engineering, material changes, and product improvements.
- Work with Reliability, Maintenance, and Safety (RM&S) to track and monitor fielded SDE components for reliability, failure modes, and safety analyses.
- Develop technical requirements and statements of work for new or derivative SDE components; negotiate and finalize requirements with external customers and SDE suppliers.
- Actively manage SDE suppliers and coordinate with Supply Chain Management to deliver qualifying products that meet program cost and schedule constraints.
- Communication of status/updates to senior level internal & external customer leadership
- Lead cross-functional SDE projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring alignment of technical objectives, program milestones, supplier performance, and customer requirements.
- Drive project planning activities such as schedules, risk registers, and technical reviews to ensure SDE deliverables meet program milestones.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance, design robustness, and SDE development processes.
- Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Experience in a mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or similar engineering position.
- Experience may be obtained through on the job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Aircraft sensor, landing gear actuation, brake control, nose wheel steering, other hydro-mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical aircraft systems engineering experience.
- Experience in the areas of requirements development, allocation, validation/verification, and safety.
- Familiarity with development and certification processes for aircraft systems and/or software.
- Experience with any or all the following requirements: SAE ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DO-160, DO-178, and/or DO-254.
- Proficient communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to drive closure on tasks in a multiple constraint environment.
