Social Services Supervisor

The purpose of the Social Services Supervisor is to directly supervise staff within their unit. The supervisor oversees the operations of the programs and attends meetings.

Job duties include:

• Providing direct supervision of division program unit of Intake, Ongoing or Foster/Adoption
• Determining need for new staff members
• Interviewing applicants
• Disciplining subordinates
• Reviewing, approving, or denying employee leave requests
• Completing performance evaluations
• Assigning and reviewing work of subordinates
• Overseeing the operation of the program division unit assigned
• Attending meetings and serving on advisory committees
• Communicating with outside agencies
• Conducting meetings within their unit

Major worker characteristics include knowledge of computer operations, office practices and procedures, federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, program planning, development and implementation, and administrative practices. Skills in typing, word processing, oral communication, writing, interviewing, advising, and supervising. Ability in reasoning, numerical, verbal, clerical, interpersonal, and physical.

Minimum qualifications for employment include a Bachelors Degree in Social Work or Social Services related field and minimum 2 years' experience in the program and/or 3 years' experience as a supervisor. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license.

Supervisory responsibilities include directly supervising and managing Social Service staff, setting work duties, tracking and approving employee leave time, training staff as needed, counseling and disciplining staff as required, and conducting annual employee reviews.

Unusual working conditions include substantial responsibility for the physical safety of children who are suspected of being either abused or neglected, considerable responsibility for the psychological safety of children who are suspected of being either abused or neglected, and occasional interaction with angry or hostile clients.

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8a – 5p (Hours may vary due to the needs of the agency outside of normal working hours)

Exempt from Overtime

Pay: $54,600.00 - $77,771.20/year DOQ
