Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

• Ensure all employees adhere to work rules and safety policies, applying OSHA and Mactac guidelines; conduct incident investigations and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Establish a strong floor presence to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results.
• Carry out management responsibilities per company policies, work rules, and applicable laws: oversee training, plan and assign work, appraise performance, reward and discipline, address complaints, resolve problems, lead employee engagement activities, and ensure timecards are accurate and approved.
• Lead and coach leads and operators to produce high‑quality products efficiently.
• Support facility staffing, including administration of time off and scheduling equipment to meet staffing requirements.
• Review production schedules to guarantee they can be achieved and align with production effectiveness and customer service.
• Focus on employee development through training sessions (safety, SOPs, housekeeping) and coach troubleshooting to develop self‑sufficiency and participation in decision making.
• Report daily shift performance to the department manager against established KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, service, employee feedback, machinery, process, and facility issues.
• Oversee department projects to ensure overall effectiveness and successful implementation.
• Maintain adequate inventory of plant supplies, monitor fill‑rate efficiencies, and initiate corrections.
• Serve as a technical resource to enforce goals, provide performance feedback, implement SOPs, solve problems, and foster continuous improvement in a team environment.
• Communicate company messages to all employees and respond to questions and concerns.
• Act as the first point of contact for employee issues, support Federal and State employment laws, and consult HR as needed.
• Assist payroll processing to ensure accurate punches and answer time‑attendance questions.
• Travel as required (approximately 5%).
• Perform other duties as assigned; regular attendance is required.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 5–8 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the paper industry, slitting/cutting/separating department a plus.
• Experienced user of ERP, warehouse management system, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong lean manufacturing experience: continuous improvement, elimination of waste, 5S, Kaizen events, and visual management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

This position requires frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels. Employees must stand, walk, and sit with limited time in the office and should occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Potential exposure to heights, hearing, eye, and foot protection are mandatory. Travel to other sites may be required.
