Position Overview
Spherion is seeking a motivated and reliable Automotive Research and Development Lab Tech to work with our customer in Troy. This full‑time temporary position supports in‑house prototype part manufacturing processes, including loading/unloading steel stampings, component packing, cleaning, paint touch‑ups, and test set‑up/tear‑down.
Working Hours8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Responsibilities- Load and unload steel stampings from weld jigs according to instructions.
- Pack and unpack steel stampings and other components carefully and efficiently.
- Perform component clean‑up tasks as required.
- Conduct paint touch‑ups on prototype parts with attention to detail.
- Operate basic hand tools safely and effectively.
- Assist in the setup and tear‑down of various tests as directed.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Perform other manual labor tasks as needed to support the team.
- Previous experience in an automotive and/or machine shop environment.
- Basic knowledge and/or experience with MIG and ARC welding.
- Demonstrated history of being hard‑working and proactive.
High School
Experience1–4 years
Qualifications- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating basic hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and/or operate a hand lift as needed (with provided training).
- Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions with precision.
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in previous roles or commitments.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
